I genuinely admire the owner of the lot at Jalan Batai where they provide parking without a roof and charges at a shameless 4 ringgit upon entry. Hence, my prancing horse was left in agony.
My arrival at Yellow Brick Road’s doorstep was at a precise 11:40 and was first to be on the waiting list of an estimated 25 minutes. While waiting outside, I came across this phrase on their door saying “built by dreamers for dreamers”. I digress simply because I never once dream of being baked under the afternoon sun and you are coerced into waiting or choose to sod off. While waiting under the cruel sun with no fan or any source of ventilation, I got myself distracted to the craftsmanship of my space qualified chronograph. It was a long and dreadful wait but they kept their promise where I did get seated just before a good 25 minutes.
Once I was shown my table, I received the most heart-felt welcome by a swarm of friendly houseflies that took shelter in Yellow Brick Road since they opened their doors, hey hey let’s not imagine what goes on in their kitchen. Sure, I can’t say that prices at YBR are astronomic but they aren’t exactly a bargain either. The thing is in Yellow Brick Road, you don’t get much conversation with their people as its best for you to get it done and get out of here. Even so, they got an order on food wrong so it says a lot on how insignificant you are. Worst of all, I had to constantly wave my arms like an inflatable balloon to fend off overly friendly tenants (houseflies) throughout my entire lunch.
So what’s the coffee like? The Snob has heard all about award winning baristas from Artisan to Brewman (they have bankrupted for good reasons) but the one at YBR doesn’t seem to do much coffee, he’s just there to observe and goes check if his latest laptop from Apple has been fully charged. Frankly, I wouldn’t complaint on their coffee as it was rather pleasant, moreover, the novice barista tried his best at depicting a swan. All in all, if you’re an Instagram junkie or simply bored of life, Yellow Brick Road is most certainly your true calling.
